Advert Ideas - Kieran Panchal 9652

Dental Awareness Advert

GoPro Hero Session 4 in the back of a patients wide open mouth that's sitting in a dental chair. The wide angle nature of the lens means that the patients' rotting teeth will be in shot. The dentists will be in shot, performing a dental procedure on the patient, whilst the patient struggles and whines in pain. When the pain gets too much for the patient, they instinctively bite down on the dentist's tools, naturally presenting a black screen as their mouth closes. There will be a strap line appearing on the black screen promoting good dental care.

Alcohol Consumption Advert

The scene would be set in a hectic operating theatre. A patient is rushed in on a hospital bed as the hospital staff begin to frantically rush around the room. The majority of the advert will be filmed in first person point of view, with cameras strapped to the patient in different areas. The idea of this would be to make the viewer feel as though they are in the position on the patient. The pace of editing is very fast, and the soundtrack is very unnerving. Towards the end of the advert, the vision and sound becomes distorted before cutting to black and hearing the monotonous bleep of the life support machine  cutting out.

Sports/Football (Nike?)

The advert would follow a player on an 11-a-side football pitch single-handedly running from one side of the pitch to another. Throughout the advert, the only thing in shot is the footballer's boots with the ball at his side, dribbling and doing skills. whilst running around players to the other side of the pitch. The shots will be taken from different angles around the player's feet but would ensure to only include his feet and the ball in the composition. In the background, we can hear professional commentary, flashing cameras and the sounds of crowds screaming when the player shoots and scores, leading the audience to believe that the player is playing in a professional setting, until the final shot shows him playing in his garden and with his opposition being small children.

Why I've discounted producing an advert

In my opinion producing a media text with the main purpose to persuade an audience, generally allows for less opportunity to create a narrative which would in turn create a strong emotional attachment with the audience. From my research of television advertisements, the majority of texts are not based around single, chronological narratives, but instead are montages, focussing primarily on pushing a product upon the audience, rather than telling a story to the audience. Although there are many types of adverts that do allow this, I feel that creating a plot-driven music video would give me more opportunity to connect with the audience, taking them on a journey through story-telling, creating a greater emotional reaction when my product is watched.
